Police Uncover Infant Trafficking Case In Asia Mega Mas Medan

MEDAN - The North Sumatra Police Team revealed the trafficking of babies in the Asia Mega Mas area, Medan City. The perpetrator was arrested, evidence was confiscated.

"It's true, we are still doing some investigations," said the Head of Sub-Directorate IV Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Simon Sinulingga as quoted by Antara, Monday, February 15.

From the results of the disclosure, the officers managed to secure a perpetrator with the initials A SIA (42), a resident of Pukat VII road, Medan Tembung. Meanwhile, a 14-day-old baby boy has been taken to be treated at the Bhayangkara Hospital.

Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Simon explained that the disclosure began after his party received information regarding the criminal activity of selling children by the perpetrator, on Friday, February 12.

Based on this information, the police conducted an investigation and succeeded in securing the perpetrator at the Asia Mega Mas Complex and the baby on Monday, February 15.

The officers secured evidence in the form of two cellphones, IDR 3,682,000 in cash, two ID cards, driver's license, and a vehicle registration certificate.

From the results of the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted offering the baby for IDR 28 million.

"The perpetrator himself was threatened with Article 76 F jo 83 of Law 35 Year 2014 regarding child protection. The case is currently still under development," he said.
