Police Reprimand Hundreds Of Business Owner In West Sumatra For Violating Health Protocols

PADANG - The Regional Police of West Sumatra reprimanded hundreds of businessmen who violated health protocols. These businessmen are spread across 19 cities and districts of West Sumatra.

Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Satake Bayu, said that this warning was given so that business actors could comply with health protocols in their place of business.

Health protocols that they must fulfill, start from providing a place to wash their hands, maintain a distance, and require wearing masks.

He said that on Sunday, March 7 there were a total of 924 business owners who were reprimanded by the police for violating the rules in Regional Regulation No. 6 of 2020 on Adaptation of New Habits.

"We will continue to remind business owners to be disciplined in implementing health protocols and in accordance with existing regulations," said Grand Commissioner Satake Bayu as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 8.

In addition, his party also gave a warning to people who were still ignorant of implementing health protocols, starting from using masks, washing hands, and not maintaining a safe distance.

The Bukittinggi District Police is noted to have reprimanded business actors in the area at most, namely 489 times. Meanwhile, the Padang Police gave 62 warnings and the Pariaman Police gave 51 warnings on Sunday, March 7.

The West Sumatra Police continues to provide education to business owners who still have not implemented health protocols such as not requiring masks to visitors or workers at their place of business.

The West Sumatra Regional Police also conducted socialization using masks to the public during the weekend

In total, there were 9,626 times the socialization conducted by officers to the public to use masks in 19 cities and districts in that day.

"We continue to strive to ensure that people are disciplined in implementing health protocols so that they are not exposed to the virus. The three locations above are tourist destinations that are often visited during holidays," said Grand Commissioner Satake Bayu.
