Polri Tells Reasons For Disbanding FPI Flood Post In Cipinang Melayu: Not The Activity, But The Organization Is Prohibited

JAKARTA - The National Police confirmed the disband of flood posts which is held by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) because FPI was part of a banned organization.

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, denied that the dismissal was carried out due to social activities carried out.

"We are not making a fuss about it. Of course, we see that FPI is a banned organization. So it is not the activity, but the organization," Ramadhan told reporters, Monday, February 22.

Ramadan ensures that everyone is allowed to hold social activities. But in this matter, all former FPI members are not allowed to reuse the organizational attributes.

"So it's not the matter who did the activity. For example, someone helps in the flood. But he was not allowed to carry the attributes or organization around," he said.

Previously reported, the flood post in Cipinang Melayu, East Jakarta was dissolved. This is because the attributes of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) are used.

Reporting from ERA.id, dozens of former FPI members participated in helping flood victims in Cipinang Melayu, Saturday, February 20.

On-site monitoring, as many as 15 ex-FPI members came to the flood site in Cipinang Melayu.

A number of former FPI members do appear to be wearing a number of FPI attributes. This can be seen in the t-shirts used, life jackets, rubber boats, and flags bearing the FPI logo.

FPI also set up a post at the residence of one of the volunteer members, Cipinang Melayu Street in front of Cipinang Mall. They prepared a place for public kitchen posts and consumption assistance for the community.

However, this FPI Command Post did not last long. According to one of the volunteers, the police came to the post and gave them 5 minutes that the FPI humanitarian post had to be disbanded, or the volunteers would be taken to the Police.

"Please remove the attributes (of FPI)," said a police officer at the location, Saturday, February 20.
