US House Of Representatives Bans Use Of Copilot, Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence Assistant

JAKARTA - The US House of Representatives has set a strict ban on Microsoft's use of Microsoft's artificial intelligence assistants by congressional staff, as reported by Axios on Friday, March 29.

"Copilot Microsoft has been considered by the Cybersecurity Office as a risk to users due to the threat of Council data leakage to cloud services that were not approved by the Council," said Catherine Szpindor, Head of Council Administration Officer, as reported by Axios.

"We recognize that government users have higher security requirements for data. That is why we announced Microsoft's AI tool roadmap, such as Copilot, which meets the security and compliance requirements of the federal government that we intend to submit later this year," a Microsoft spokesperson said. Policymakers have seen potential risks in federal agency adoption of artificial intelligence and adequacy of protection to protect individual privacy and ensure fair treatment.

Last year, two US senators from the Democratic Party and two Republicans introduced legislation to ban the use of artificial intelligence that creates content incorrectly describing candidates in political advertising to influence federal elections.
