JAKARTA - The Presidential Office said on Friday cyberattacks by pro-Russian hacker groups against South Korea had increased after the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia to support its war in Ukraine.
The National Security Council (NSC) held an intra-institutional emergency meeting on Thursday, after several government websites, including those of the Ministry of Defense and courts, experienced attacks against the distributed service (DDoS) earlier this week.
The NSC said cyberattacks, mostly DDoS, by a "pro-Russian hacktivist group" had escalated following the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia.
"Although several government websites have been delayed or temporarily disrupted, there has been no further damage," NSC said in a release.
