The Israeli Government Sends Rescue Planes To Amsterdam In The Aftermath Of The Maccabi Supporter Clash In Tel Aviv

JAKARTA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered two rescue planes to be delivered to the Netherlands on Friday, November 8, 2024, following clashes between Maccabi supporters Tel Aviv and pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

The riots occurred before and after the Ajax Amsterdam vs Maccabi Tel Aviv match outside the Johan Cruyff Arena in the Europa League match, Friday, early morning WIB.

Videos circulating on social media show street clashes and Amsterdam's Antihuru-hara Police have intervened.

The order to send a plane was taken after the Israeli government claimed there was an attack focused on its citizens and the Jewish community in Amsterdam.

An eyewitness recorded a video, verified by Reuters, showing a group of men running near Amsterdam's central station, chasing and attacking another man, as police sirens rang.

Meanwhile, the Dutch Prime Minister, Dick Schoof, also supported the policies and claims made by the Israeli government.

"Resulting an anti-Semitic attack on Israelis. This is completely unacceptable," said Schoof.

In a statement on X, he further said he had spoken to Netanyahu by telephone and assured him that the perpetrators would be identified and prosecuted.

Local police said 57 suspects had been detained after the match when pro-Palestinian demonstrators tried to break into the Johan Cruyff Arena, although local authorities had banned demonstrations there.

Police said fans had left the stadium without incident, but clashes had erupted in the city center.

The Israeli military said it was preparing to immediately deploy a rescue mission in coordination with the Dutch Government after a football match.

"The mission will be deployed using cargo aircraft and includes a medical and rescue team," said the IDF (Israel Defense Forces).

Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, has asked the Dutch government to help Israelis arrive safely at the airport.

Saar asked the Dutch Foreign Minister, Caspar Veldkamp, for the help this Friday.

Apart from that, the Europa League match belonged to Ajax after winning five goals without reply against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
