JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia is targeting an increase in international passengers, one of which is from Japan.

The way that Perseoan does to attract tourists is to launch the Pikachu Berbatik thematic livery design.

Pikachu's thematic livery is the second to launch Garuda Indonesia for the GA-2 Jet aircraft, the result of a collaboration with The Pokémon Company.

This Garuda Indonesia GA-2 jet is a wide-body aircraft serving international flights, including Japan (Tokyo), Australia (Sydney and Melbourne), countries in ASEAN, Hong Kong, China, and Saudi Arabia (Jeddah).

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra said that the Company really wants this livery with a large plane. He said this so that it could fly internationally and could attract tourists to Indonesia using the plane.

Irfan said that for this second livery, Garuda Indonesia displays a fictitious Pikachu design, as a form of introduction to Indonesian culture.

"Collaboration with the creative industry and brands that are very popular among the global community is certainly our strategic initiative as a national flag carrier not only in providing safe and comfortable air transportation accessibility, but also providing unique and pleasant flight experiences," said Irfan.

Meanwhile, The Pokémon Company, represented by Susumu Fukunaga, stated that the collaboration with Garuda Indonesia was outlined in a five-year contract.

"I hope this Pikachu Jet can be an opportunity for the world to know more about Indonesia and for the Indonesian people to meet with various interesting and thrilling things from around the world," he said.

In addition to launching the Pikachu Jet GA-1 thematic livey design, Garuda Indonesia and The Pokémon Company also provide additional value on several touch points of passenger services such as in-flight branding through the availability of headrest, paper cup, meal box, and lavatory design Pokémon, and Pokémon Kids TV shows on aircraft in-flight entertainment.
