JAKARTA - The government has approved the implementation of the first phase of a 100 gigawatt solar power plant project. The first stone laying is targeted to take place in the near future and is planned to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the project has entered the implementation phase.
"The implementation of the 100 GW PLTS in the near future will be marked by the first launch and groundbreaking," said Bahlil after meeting the President at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 28.
According to Bahlil, the first phase has obtained government approval. The President is planned to inaugurate the start of construction.
"This is immediately on track. The first phase has been approved for implementation," he said.
Bahlil has not explained the capacity in the first phase, the location of the project, investment needs, or the operation schedule of the plant.
He also did not reveal which party would work on the project and its financing scheme.
At the same meeting, Bahlil reported the completion of the 2025 village electricity program in more than 1,400 villages. The program will be inaugurated before August 14.
The continuation of the village electricity budget for 2026 and 2027, he said, is also available. The government now only needs to run the program.
