UN Records Israeli Settlers Carried Out More Than 1,330 Attacks in West Bank Since Early 2026

JAKARTA - The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that it had documented more than 1,330 incidents involving Israeli settlers in the West Bank, Palestine, which has been occupied since the beginning of 2026, resulting in casualties and property damage on the Palestinian side.

This was conveyed in a statement issued by the UN office, which expressed deep concern over the increase in violence throughout the West Bank in recent days.

The office said that since last Thursday at least eight Palestinians, including a child, have been killed, reported by WAFA (28/7).

Houses, mosques, trees, and agricultural facilities have been burned or vandalized, some completely destroyed, while at least ten Palestinian families have been forced to flee their homes due to the latest wave of violence.

Palestinian, Israeli and international human rights organizations have said the Israeli army turns a blind eye to settler attacks and even takes part in them.

The UN office noted that Israeli forces had tightened restrictions on the movement of Palestinians and their access to various areas in the West Bank, preventing thousands of people from accessing essential services, including emergency medical care and livelihoods.

OCHA reported that since the beginning of this year until last Saturday, 77 Palestinians, including 18 children, were killed by Israeli forces or Israeli settlers.

The office stressed that humanitarian actors continue to call for urgent protection for civilians and strict adherence to international humanitarian law and international human rights law, stressing the importance of holding those responsible for violations accountable.

These attacks by Israel pave the way for the official annexation of the West Bank, which would undermine the possibility of the establishment of a Palestinian State as provided for in the relevant UN resolutions.
