Parts Of The Darussawab Matraman Mosque Congregation Cancel Eid Prayers When Charity Box Thief Arrested By Residents

JAKARTA - A battered man was judged by the masses for being caught stealing money in the Darussawab Mosque charity box, at Jangkrik Market, Pisangan Baru Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta, Tuesday night, July 23.

The perpetrator stole the charity box when the congregation and residents were performing the Isha prayer inside the mosque. The perpetrator's actions were caught by a trader who was selling in front of the mosque.

"Initially, Isha prayers in congregation, suddenly people (perpetrators) came in to take the charity box knocked, broke. Those who saw the bandros baker happened to be shouted at at the door, then the perpetrator was shouted at by the thief," said Pendi, one of the mosque's administrators to reporters, Wednesday, July 24.

Hearing the screams of thieves, the concentration of some worshipers was disturbed. Several worshipers immediately rushed to leave the prayer and came to the source of the sound of screams.

"Those who pray in a hurry immediately cancel their prayers. The perpetrators are then chased," he said.

According to Pendi, the perpetrator acted alone.

"The perpetrator was one person, had run and was chased and arrested. The perpetrator was brought back to the Darusawab Mosque here (the crime scene)," he said.

The perpetrator's action is not the first time. Previously, the perpetrator also had time to steal a charity box and managed to get away with the charity box from the mosque.

"The thief has stolen charity boxes twice. First, the charity box was brought and knocked (it was destroyed) in the bypass in front of STM 5. That night, he (the perpetrator) did it again here (the Darussawab mosque)," he said.

For further processing, the perpetrators and evidence were brought to the Matraman Police. Until now, the perpetrator is still under investigation.
