The government health official in Washuk district, Pakistan, Noorullah Essazai said, in addition to the 28 dead, a number of passengers with serious injuries had been taken to hospital for intensive care.

In a statement, Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif expressed his condolences over the incident. He asked the authorities and related authorities to take quick action in handling this accident.

"We stand with the bereaved families at this difficult time, and extend our sincere sympathies to them," the Pakistani PM said in a statement.
