About To Escape To Papua, DPO For Cattle Theft Case Arrested By Police At El Tari Airport Kupang

The Kupang Police Resmob Team, East Nusa Tenggara Police, managed to arrest JR, a suspect who was on the wanted list (DPO) of cattle theft cases, when he was about to fly from Kupang to Papua. "We arrested the suspect JR yesterday at El Tari Airport when he was about to fly out of Kupang," said Kupang Police Chief AKBP Anak Agung Gde Anom Wirata in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, March 6. This was conveyed in connection with the case of the theft of cattle belonging to residents in Kupang Regency which was quite disturbing to local residents. JR is one of five suspects involved in the theft of Obet Haumeni's cattle on September 11, 2023. The police have made JR and EL in the DPO because they were uncooperative during the investigation process. The police chief said JR was arrested at El Tari Airport while with his wife. The two of them were about to flee to Papua on the Kupang-Makassar route, Makassar-Papua. When arrested JR, who is a DPO, could not move and could not escape in the midst of a crowd of other passengers who were in the waiting room at El Tari Airport. He added that information about JR's planned departure to Papua was obtained from cooperation with Lion Air. After receiving this information, the Kupang Police Wolf Resmob Team, led by Aiptu Andri Tade, went straight to El Tari Airport. "JR and his wife are currently in the process of being investigated at the Kupang Police Headquarters," he said. As a result of his actions, JR and his colleagues who had previously been arrested were charged with Article 363 paragraph (1) 1e and 4e in conjunction with Article 53 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code Subs Article 302 Paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1e of the Criminal Code, will continue in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

"This case is a warning that the escape effort will not prevent the perpetrators from being responsible for the law," he said.
