Allegedly Using Drugs Illegally, Yoo Ah In Examined By Police

JAKARTA - South Korean actor Yoo Ah In is reportedly under investigation by the local police for illegal use of the anesthetic propofol. The act of using drugs for non-medical purposes violates the Narcotics Control Act in South Korea.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) drug investigation unit summoned Yoo Ah-In on Monday, February 6, to investigate the use of propofol for non-medical purposes, as broadcast by Yonhap, Thursday, February 9.

The police have sent a hair sample of Yoo Ah-in to the National Forensic Service (NFS) to secure evidence. In addition, the police also prohibited Yoo Ah-in from traveling abroad.

Yoo Ah-in's United Arts Agency acknowledged that the actor is currently under police investigation for propofol use.

"(Yoo) is actively cooperating with the police investigation and will be addressing this matter," the United Arts Agency said in an official statement.
