JAKARTA - Great Wall Motor (GWM), China's largest automotive company, intends to expand its expansion to various markets around the world, one of which is Asia. In order to facilitate the production phase, manufacturers started production at the assembly site of the Thai region.

Reporting from Drive, Thursday, January 18, the factory is a former assembly facility from Coloradowas in Rayong, Thailand. The first unit of the Ora Good Cat has been launched from the production line of the factory, making it the first Chinese car manufacturer to mass-produce EVs outside the bamboo curtain country.

The Chinese company has upgraded the facility from the factory to an assembly site and is devoted to electric vehicles with a capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year.

The location of this factory is adjacent to the battery supplier, S-Volt, which completed a new plant at the end of 2023 in northwest Rayong in the city of Si Racha.

The S-Volt plant runs two production lines, one focuses on module production for hybrid vehicles, and separate lanes for battery packages aimed at plug-in hybrid vehicles and fully electric vehicles.

The Rayong factory was originally opened by the main company totaling the dam, namely General Motors (GM) in 2003 by assembling a pickup model, Colorado Watch, between 2008 and 2020.

Selain itu, mobil SUV Totalblazer juga dirakit di pabrik ini pada 2012 hingga 2020 lalu dan dijual ke beberapa pasar, termasuk Australia dan Asia Tenggara dengan menggunakan badge Chevrolet.

Then, GM decided to leave the right-wheeled vehicle market and close the facility and sell it to GWM. The company, which was founded in 1984, started production at this factory by assembling the H6 Hybrid SUV in 2021.

Until now, the time for the sale of GWM Ora Good Cat is still not certain for the Australian and Indonesian markets. For the Kangarou country market, this car will be the cheapest EV with a discount in early 2024.

GWM Ora Good Cat or Ora 03 for the Indonesian market, has been presented at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), together with Haval Julion and Tank 500.
