Following In The Footsteps Of The US, France Attacks Syria's ISIS Base

JAKARTA - France launched last weekend's missile strike in Syria targeting ISIS sites in the country.

"On Sunday, the French air force launched targeted attacks on ISIS sites based in Syria," French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu wrote on social media platform X.

This French airstrike follows a similar US military strike in Syria, which the US says killed two ISIS members.

Syria faces an uncertain political future after the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group toppled former President Bashar al-Assad on December 8.

Rapid operations led by HTS ended a 13-year civil war, but left a number of questions about the future of multi-ethnic countries where foreign countries including Turkey and Russia have strong interests and have the potential to compete.
