Pramono asks Persija to be League Champion as a gift for Jakarta's 500th anniversary

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung asked Persija Jakarta to present the Indonesian League champion title as a gift for the 500th anniversary of Jakarta in 2027.

The target was conveyed amid the DKI Provincial Government's push to make sports one of the drivers of sports tourism and a new attraction for the capital.

Pramono assessed that Jakarta was not enough to just be a city that organized the match. The government wants sports, including football, to be able to bring people's movements from various regions and strengthen the city's identity.

Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government opened a wider space for the implementation of various sports activities, including the Persija match, as well as concerts and large-scale agendas at venues such as the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

"I also hope that Jakarta is now opening up as wide as possible to become a destination for sports tourism," Pramono told reporters, Sunday, August 9.

According to Pramono, Persija has an important position in building the pride of residents towards Jakarta.

The enthusiasm of the fans is a social capital that needs to be maintained so that the relationship between the club and the community is stronger.

"In terms of bonds, if this can be maintained continuously, I believe this will be an extraordinary social capital," said Pramono.

He admitted that he had high hopes after Persija appointed Shin Tae-yong as the new coach. The former Indonesian national team coach's experience is expected to bring new energy to the Kemayoran Tigers.

"I want to feel the champion of the League and at the same time it is a gift for 500 years for Jakarta," he said.

Pramono emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government's support for Persija would be given seriously. For him, support for the capital club is part of an effort to build a sense of ownership of the community towards Jakarta.

"Because that way I really want Persija to feel the match with a sense of security, comfort and feel proud that the match for Jakarta is a match for himself and also a match for his family," he explained.

Meanwhile, Bank Jakarta President Director Agus Haryoto Widodo said that the transformation of Jakarta into a global city must be followed by an increase in the quality of public services, including financial services.

Bank Jakarta, said Agus, is strengthening the digital transformation and professionalism of the company so that it is able to follow the development of the city and the needs of the community.

The statement was made at the Bank Jakarta x Persija Collaboration Kick Off and the launch of the new BankJakarta.co.id website at Taman Suropati.

"Jakarta is changing, so is Bank Jakarta. we want Bank Jakarta to be more modern, professional, digital, healthy, and competitive but still close to the community," said Agus.

According to him, the status of Bank Jakarta as a bank owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is not enough to be an excuse for the public to use its services.

Public trust must be built through the quality of services and the ability to adapt to technological developments.

Agus assessed that the collaboration with Persija is part of an effort to strengthen Bank Jakarta's connection with the community.

Persija has a large support base through The Jakmania and has become one of the symbols that are attached to the identity of Jakarta.

He hopes that this cooperation will not only strengthen the club's ecosystem, but also have a positive impact on the city which is heading towards a five-century momentum.

"For the team coach, there is one goal that may not be written in the contract with Persija. But I am sure all the Jakmania here have the same goal. Persija must be champions. Moreover, Jakarta is heading towards a historic momentum. Five centuries of Jakarta. If Persija can present the title at that momentum, That would be a perfect gift for Jakarta," concluded Agus.
