Indonesians Affected By COVID-19 Get Help From The Cycling Community In The UK

JAKARTA – As a form of solidarity, Indonesian citizens in the UK are raising funds for residents affected by COVID-19. The fundraising was carried out through the Ride for Indonesia cycling activity.

"This is a form of our solidarity", said one of the initiators of "Ride for Indonesia", Eastman Rivai quoted Antara, Sunday, September 12.

Eastman explained that the cycling activity he carried out with his colleagues was aimed at introducing Indonesia to the UK. This moment, said Eastman, was also used to raise funds for people in Indonesia who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the participants of "Ride for Indonesia", Syaifuddin Ismail, said he was happy and grateful to be able to take part in this activity.

"We are happy because the cycling activities that we do regularly can become a fundraising medium", he said.

In collaboration with the Human Aid Initiative (HAI), Ride for Indonesia raises funds using a crowdfunding donation platform in the UK and also in Indonesia.

The proceeds of the donation are channeled through the Food Aid program, namely by providing basic food packages for the most affected communities in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Director of HAI, Nurani Susilo, welcomed the initiative of Indonesian citizens in London to raise funds through cycling events.

"We hope the 'Ride for Indonesia' activity inspires Indonesians in other cities to hold similar activities", said Nurani.
