JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said accepting US President Joe Biden's explanation regarding the designation of 'a killer', signaled that the ambassadors of the two countries would return to their duties after being recalled.

President Putin said he had been called by President Biden to explain what he called "a murderer" in March.

Speaking at a press conference after meeting President Biden in Geneva, Wednesday, June 16 local time, President Putin said he was satisfied with the explanation given by his colleague.

"Regarding that sharp declaration, what can I say, we are all familiar with it," President Putin said, referring to President Biden's interview with the ABC.

"President Biden called me after that and we exchanged views on this issue. This explanation suited me," Putin continued.

President Biden in an ABC News interview broadcast in March said "I agree" when asked if he believed Putin was a murderer.

This prompted Russia to summon its ambassador in Washington for consultations and the US ambassador to Moscow also returned home for consultations.

In yesterday's meeting, the two agreed to reinstate ambassadors of their respective countries to their workplaces in Moscow and Washington.

"Regarding the return of the ambassadors to their workplaces, the US Ambassador to Moscow and the Russian Ambassador to Washington, we agree that this issue is resolved," President Putin said, as reported by TASS.

President Putin added that the timing and overall process of returning was a technical matter, without elaborating further.

"When exactly, tomorrow or the day after? It is a purely technical matter," he concluded.
