Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian Mourns The Death Of Deputy Governor Of Papua Klemen Tinal

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, expressed his condolences for the death of Papua Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal at Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Friday, May 21.

"The Ministry of Trade and the Central Government are deeply sorry for the death of Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal. May he rest in peace", said the Minister of Home Affairs at Sentosa Funeral Home, Jakarta, reported by Antara.

The Minister of Home Affairs remembered the deceased as the best son of Papua he had known since 2012 when he served as the Chief of Police of Papua.

"He was also running with Mr. Lukas Enembe as Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua", he said.

The Minister of Trade ensured that the government in Papua province continued to run despite the mourning for the return of the deputy governor.

"The Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to control the government to keep running", he said.

As is known, Klemen Tinal is a native son of Papua who was appointed as Deputy Governor alongside Governor Lukas Enembe by President Joko Widodo in 2018.

Earlier, the Head of the Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benni Irwan, mentioned that the Ministry of Home Affairs has coordinated with the Papua Provincial Government regarding the management of the body of Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal.

"The Ministry of Trade has been coordinating with the local government and is still waiting for a follow-up plan from the provincial government for the next implementation of the deceased's body", he said.

Papua Province Regional Secretary, Dance Yulian Flassy, said the body of Papua Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal was planned to be buried in Jayapura State Building.

"The body will be departed from Jakarta to Jayapura using Garuda airlines on Saturday, May 22. The plan is to arrive we do not know yet and later after arriving will be buried in the Jayapura State Building", he said.

According to Dance after the funeral will be performed religious rituals, then on Sunday, May 23, 2021, sent to Timika using the TNI Hercules aircraft that had been agreed in the Regional leadership coordination forum meeting.

The body will be buried on Monday, May 24, 2021, at the deceased's Pendopo in Timika, Mimika Regency, but this is still awaiting assurance from the family.
