Palestinian Defense Action, Dozens Of Students Secured By Metro Police

Palestinian martial arts action in Central Jakarta/Antara

JAKARTA - Dozens of participants of the Palestinian defense action from the Islamic Students Association (HMI) were secured by police officers to be taken to the Metro Jaya Police Department in a prisoner's car.

It happened considering dozens of participants of the action disrupted traffic on M. Ridwan Rais Street which intersects on Medan Merdeka Selatan Street, where the Palestinian martial arts action is taking place, precisely in front of the US Embassy, Central Jakarta.

"Student friends please dock towards the speaker car. Let us voice our opinion", said one of the participants of the action at M. Ridwan Rais Street, Central Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, May 21, afternoon.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Hengki Haryadi also warned the masses to immediately disperse because traffic on M. Ridwan Rais Street was observed to be choked.

"Putting someone in a dangerous situation is a criminal offence. We don't forbid brothers. Please disperse. It's still a pandemic situation", Hengki warned.

Seeing the masses that did not disperse, the police finally took a crackdown.

"I warn you. The first warning I gave to the participants of the action from HMI. You have disturbed public order," Head of Operations at the Central Jakarta Police, AKBP Guntur said through a loudspeaker.

A number of police officers wearing PPE hazmat suits also took the anarchist-rated action participants into the prisoner's car.

The participants of the secured action were taken to Metro Jaya Police around 15.20 WIB. Until this news was revealed, a number of mobs were still conveying their aspirations in the Palestinian defense action in front of the US Embassy.
