Fire At OKU South Sumatra Allegedly Illegal Fuel Warehouse, Caused By Electric Short Circuit

SOUTH SUMATRA - Ogan Komering Ulu Police (OKU) in South Sumatra (Sumsel) investigated the cause of the fire of a warehouse suspected of being an illegal fuel oil storage area (BBM).

OKU Police Chief AKBP Imam Zamroni said the cause of the fire in Karang Agung Village, West Baturaja District on Thursday, September 5 that afternoon was still being investigated.

The fire was extinguished at around 13.40 WIB after six units of the fire brigade arrived at the location of the fire.

"The building that caught fire was known to belong to Ishak alias Aris (45), a local resident," said the Police Chief in Baturaja, Friday, September 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

Based on the results of the crime scene (TKP), the fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit from the water pump engine which then grabbed the fuel storage area in the warehouse.

At the scene, the police found four mini drums measuring about 1,000 liters, three iron drums, and one unit of the Sanyo water pump that was burned.

"Luckily in this incident it did not cause any casualties," he said.

Currently, his party is investigating further to ascertain the cause of the fire and verify whether the fuel is illegal fuel.

The South Sumatra Police Labfor team was involved in an investigation at the TKP to determine the cause of the fire and the impact caused by the incident.

"Currently, we are still conducting investigations and coordinating with the South Sumatra Police Labfor Team to carry out further TKP processing to ensure the type of fuel burned at that location," he said.
