Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: We Confirm Once Again, Playing With Fire Is Very Dangerous

JAKARTA - Russia said the West played a fire by considering allowing Ukraine to strike Russia deep with Western missiles, warning the United States on Tuesday that the Third World War would not be limited in Europe.

Ukraine attacked the Kursk region of western Russia on August 6, taking control of parts of the territory in the largest foreign attack on Russia since the Second World War.

In response, President Vladimir Putin said there would be a appropriate response from Russia to the attack.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the West was seeking to escalate Ukraine's war and was "finding trouble" taking into account Kyiv's request to relax restrictions on the use of foreign-assisted weapons.

"We now emphasize once again that playing with fire, and they are like small children playing matches, are very dangerous for adult uncles and aunts entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or several Western countries," Foreign Minister Lavrov told reporters in Moscow. August 28.

"Americans have firmly linked talks about the Third World War as something that, contrary, if that happened, would affect Europe exclusively," he said.

Foreign Minister Lavrov added that Russia is "clarifying" its nuclear doctrine.

Russia's nuclear doctrine in 2020 determined when its president would consider the use of nuclear weapons: in general in response to attacks using nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction or conventional weapons "when the country's existence is threatened".

It is known, since invading Ukraine in 2022, President Putin has repeatedly warned of a much broader risk of war involving the world's largest nuclear power, although he said Russia does not want conflict with the NATO alliance (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) led by the United States.
