JAKARTA - Vice President of the United States (US) Kamala Harris is expected to announce her partner on Tuesday, August 6.

Harris' decision could be announced at any time ahead of his first public appearance with vice presidential candidates on Tuesday, August 6 in Philadelphia, before the two begin a cross-state campaign tour that may determine the election results, aka battleground, sources said.

Harris ended the selection of vice presidents by interviewing the top three candidates Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, US Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro at his residence in Naval Observatory in Washington on Sunday, the source said.

Kamala Harris met Transportation Minister Pete Buttigieg for 90 minutes on Friday and also met the candidate virtually, the source said.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker are other competing candidates for the post.

Harris' search for vice presidential candidates began two weeks ago, shortly after President Joe Biden resigned from his candidacy and supported Harris to replace him.

The election for vice president is one of Harris's most important decisions in Harris' political career, as he hastily campaigned to challenge Donald Trump in the November 5 elections.

Harris's selected list includes all white men who have a record of winning the hearts of voters in rural, white, or independent.

Harris is considering the decision with her husband, Doug Emhoff, Tony West's brother-in-law, and a small number of assistants and advisers, the source said.

The candidates will be notified on Monday evening or Tuesday morning whether they were selected, the source continued.

The Harris campaign team is also planning a social media announcement featuring the two, campaign officials familiar with the plan told Reuters.
