Undergoing a Medical Procedure Suddenly, Rod Stewart Postpones a Concert Just a Few Hours Before the Show

JAKARTA - Veteran rock singer from England, Rod Stewart, was forced to postpone his concert at the Riverbend Music Center, Cincinnati, USA, suddenly, recently.

The 81-year-old musician's show was postponed just hours before the doors to the venue opened due to a health issue that required immediate medical attention.

The concert in Cincinnati is part of a North American tour titled "One Last Time". The organizers confirmed the delay officially through a written statement.

"Due to an unexpected minor medical procedure that requires immediate attention, Rod Stewart's show tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed," read a statement from organizers, quoted by NME, Tuesday, August 11.

The organizers ensured that ticket holders need not worry because the show will be rescheduled. Detailed information regarding the replacement date is planned to be announced today.

"The rescheduling is currently being processed, with additional information to follow on Tuesday. All tickets that have been purchased previously remain valid for the rescheduled date," the statement continued.

Furthermore, the management of the organizer added, the condition of the singer of "Maggie May" is expected to improve in a short time.

"Rod is expected to recover quickly and hopes to be able to sing again in Cincinnati," added the organizers.

Prior to the delay in Cincinnati, Rod Stewart had completed his performance in Connecticut on Friday, August 7, which was preceded by concerts in Virginia and New York.

According to schedule, he is projected to continue his tour to Cleveland, before holding a series of other concerts until September, including a residency schedule at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

This delay adds to Rod Stewart's long record of health problems during his recent tour.

Earlier last summer, he had to stop his performance for a moment in Utah to use an oxygen tube after almost fainting on stage.

Previously, the musician also had to face criticism when he was seen watching and cheering on the Scottish national team in the World Cup match, just hours after canceling a concert in California for health reasons. At that time, management clarified that the singer was diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory tract infection that triggered laryngitis.

Rod Stewart himself at that time apologized directly to his fans. "After undergoing treatment, my body feels much better, but my voice has not recovered. I am very disappointed and apologize for the inconvenience experienced by fans," he said.

For information, the One Last Time tour series is rumored to be the closing phase for Rod Stewart's large-scale arena concert career.

The musician, who last year filled the Legends slot at Glastonbury, previously stated that he would no longer hold a massive world tour. He hinted at the possibility of completing it in full after the tour ended in England in 2027, although he emphasized that he had no plans to retire from the music stage.
