JAKARTA - The Gambir Metro Police handed over the handling of the fire case at the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building to the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police for further investigation.
Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, said the case was handed over on Monday (10/8).
"So, at this time the process is being carried out by the Polda Metro Jaya, it has been transferred from the Metro Gambir Police to the Polda Metro Criminal Investigation Unit," said Erlyn as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 11.
He revealed that the crime scene (TKP) was being carried out by joint officers from the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Polda Metro Jaya, and the National Police Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor).
The process of processing the crime scene of the fire is still ongoing inside the building on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Erlyn, the examination was carried out to uncover the cause of the fire that burned the DKI Jakarta Bapenda building from the 11th floor to the 16th floor.
"Still, inside until this afternoon it is still a process. From the Metro Gambir Police and Labfor it is still under investigation," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Gambir Police, AKP Arfan Rawung, confirmed that the handling of the case had been handed over to the Metro Jaya Police.
"Yes, it was handed over to the Metro Police yesterday, it is currently being handled by the Metro Jaya Police," said Arfan.
He said the results of the latest examination and findings from the crime scene investigation with Puslabfor would be conveyed by the Metro Jaya Police.
"Later the results (of the crime scene) and all information will be immediately conveyed by the Metro Jaya Police," he said.
It is known that the fire occurred on Friday (7/8) evening and burned the area from the 11th floor to the 16th floor of the DKI Jakarta Bapenda Building.
Police officers together with Puslabfor Polri took a number of samples of ash and charcoal from three points in the DKI Jakarta Bapenda Building which were affected by the fire.
The examination was focused on the 11th floor which is the archive room, as well as the 12th floor and the 16th floor. The samples were then examined to help determine the source and the initial cause of the fire.
The police have also not confirmed the connection between the renovation work on the 11th floor to the 14th floor and the fire incident.
