Former Attorney General Basrief Arief Has Passed Away

JAKARTA - Former Attorney General Basrief Arief has passed away. Basrief Arief served as Attorney General in the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

This sad news was conveyed by the Head of the General Prosecutor's Office, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak.

"The Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, mourns the passing away to the presence of Allah SWT, Mr. Basrief Arief bin Bachtiar Arief," said Leonard, Tuesday, March 23.

Basrief Arief passed away at 10:00 western Indonesia time. However, there has been no information regarding Basrief Arief's condition before his death.

"Hopefully the deceased's deeds of worship will be accepted by Allah SWT and the door will be opened for maximum forgiveness. Amen Ya Robbal aalamiin," said Leonard.

Basrief Arief served as Attorney General from 26 November 2010 to 20 October 2014.

Compiled from various sources, Basrief Arief, a graduate of the Andalan University Law Faculty and Padjajaran University postgraduate program, started his career as Assistant of General Crime at the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office.

Basrief Arief then became the expert staff of the Attorney General's Office, Head of General Bureau to Head of the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office.

Basrief Arief was then appointed as Attorney General replacing Hendarman Supandji with the inauguration on November 26, 2010.
