Gibran Loosens Solo Community Activities Again, CFD Is Reviewed, Tarawih Ramadan Will Wait Central Government

SOLO - The Municipal Government of Surakarta has again relaxed community activities after previously a number of restrictions were in effect during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Tomorrow I will just sign the SE (circular), there is a little easing," said Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 22.

Gibran said that with the easing of community activities, it means that the number of COVID-19 cases so far is quite under control.

"That's why we want to accelerate the economic recovery with these concessions, but still apply strict health protocols," he continued.

So far, the leniency that has been made by the Municipal Government of Surakarta, one of which is allowing the reopening of cinemas that had been closed for one year, since the beginning of the COVID-19 case entered Solo City.

However, for the rituals of worship in the month of Ramadan including tarawih, the Surakarta City Government is still waiting for directions from the central government.

"This is in the city first, just wait for tomorrow, I haven't signed it yet," said Gibran.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Surakarta City, Ahyani, said that he was making preparations for the opening of the "car-free day" (CFD) or motor vehicle-free day which is usually done on Sundays.

In the meantime, the usual activities centered along Slamet Riyadi Street are specifically for sports activities, while selling activities are not allowed.

Ahyani said that the plan for these activities was to start before Ramadan. Solo City Government will conduct socialization to the community first.
