Gerindra Recommends Ridwan Kamil To Run For Jakarta Regional Head Election, Golkar Awaits Party Decision

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party recommends the former Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil to run in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. However, Golkar as the party that oversees Ridwan Kamil is still waiting for the final decision. The reason is, Ridwan Kamil did receive two assignment letters from the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto to run in the Jakarta Pilgub and West Java Pilgub. "We are waiting for the party's decision, and of course we are waiting for various considerations by our chairman and the Golkar Party's DPP election team to think deeply about or review them related to these recommendations," said the chairman of the Golkar Party DPP, Ace Hasan Syadzily at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 4. Ace has not been able to answer whether Golkar's decision will be different from Gerindra or the same. What is clear, he said, so far the party wants to consider the results of Ridwan Kamil's survey in the two provinces.

"In accordance with the results of the survey and the Golkar Party's internal guidelines regarding the appointment or determination of candidates for regional heads, we still have two surveys to see further," he said.

"At the latest (it will be decided, red) ahead of registration," added the West Java Golkar DPD chairman.

Apart from Ridwan Kamil, Ace said, Golkar is also considering the names of internal cadres such as the chairman of the DKI Golkar DPD, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar to run in the upcoming Jakarta Pilkada.

"So far, the names that have been in the internal survey for DKI are apart from the name RK, there is Mr. Zaki's name. So far, only Mr. RK has been in West Java," he concluded.
