Russia Awaits Donald Trump's Concrete Proposal To End Conflict In Ukraine

JAKARTA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow would wait for a concrete proposal by the elected US President, Donald Trump, who had promised to "work very hard" resolve the conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine.

"We will wait for their proposal... we always emphasize that politicians who claim to support peace rather than war deserve attention. But we don't know what they're going to propose," Lavrov was quoted as saying by Anadolu.

He said this at a press conference after attending the 15th Sir Bani Yas International Forum in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Friday.

On a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Lavrov questioned Germany's intentions, the European Union, andNATO, saying they would stand with Ukraine as long as necessary.

"Who needs it? Obviously not the Ukrainian people," he said.

Responding to media reports saying China was dissatisfied with Russia-North Korea's cooperation, Lavrov confirmed that the cooperation would not interfere with Russia-China relations.

"It is impossible to divide Russia and China. We have not received any messages regarding our relationship with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," he said, referring to North Korea's official name.

He added that Russia and China held regular consultations to coordinate "problems created by the US and its allies on the Korean Peninsula and its surroundings."

According to Lavrov, the West thinks Ukraine's problems should be resolved and Russia should be met in part with its demands, but they will then use it as part of a "coalition to fight China."
