France Ready To Admit Palestinian State, President Macron: No One Has Met

JAKARTA - President Emmanuel Macron said he was ready to recognize the Palestinian State, but it had to be in the right time and not emotional recognition.

President Macron said recognition of the Palestinian State was not taboo in his country.

"There is nothing taboo for France, and I am truly ready to recognize the Palestinian state," President Macron said at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Germany on Tuesday.

"I think this confession should be made at the right time," he added.

President Macron further stressed the need for a political process to provide useful results.

"I will not make emotional confessions," he said.

On that occasion President Macron also vowed that there would be no double standards regarding the suffering of civilians in conflicts in various parts of the world.

Describe the situation that occurred in Rafah as something terrible, he stressed "the operation in Rafah must be stopped".

On the other hand, President Macron reiterated that Israel has the right to defend itself. However, he stressed that this must be done while respecting international law and humanity.

Supporting a meeting at the United Nations, President Macron said there is no safe place for Palestinian civilians.

"We support Algeria's request for an urgent meeting (at the United Nations) and we are working with Algeria and all our partners at the Security Council on a joint resolution that (not only) answers humanitarian urgency in the field, but also provides answers in terms of a ceasefire, and provides a clear UN mandate regarding Gaza," said President Macron.

He also stressed that France is also ready to seek a peace solution, saying "the most useful act right now is to make a ceasefire."

It is known, France has publicly expressed its support for Israel since the start of the intense attack on October 7, 2023.
