JAKARTA - In the digital era, technology has an important influence in the process of socializing in organizing elections in 2024. The use of technology can facilitate the process at each stage of the election, so that it is more effective and efficient. Therefore, the Ministry of Communication and Information discussed how the role of digital space in the general election process in Indonesia in NGOBRAS or Ngobrol Together Legislators with the theme "Security of Comfortable Digital Spaces" on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Researcher at the Asia-Japan Research Institute, Ritsumeikan University Muhammad Riza Nurdin said that the relationship between elections and digital space is closely related to young people, because the majority of voters or approximately 55 percent will be followed by young people who are very close to the use of digital technology.

The majority of Indonesians use the internet for more than 6 hours and is quite massive. There are three important things to understand regarding elections in the digital space, including currently election products such as narratives and marketing strategies for election participants to dominate the digital space. Not only that, the distribution and communication of elections have also used digital means.

"So, it is necessary to be vigilant regarding the negative content circulating with the aim of reducing electability. There is also manipulative content that is used to mislead and can ignite emotions," said Riza.

Fadhlulah, SE Member of Commission I DPR RI highlighted that during elections there are often slander and many hoax news circulating. Therefore, the public must be smart in assessing their choice in elections with smart arguments.

"So let's keep safe elections and especially in the digital space, we must always be smart in filtering information, because often sharing information in digital spaces leads to the realm of law," said Fadhlullah.

Then, the CEO of Nujek.id Mochamad Gozali, SE also emphasized that the general election was in sight. The law has determined that the election campaign must be held in a healthy manner. For the future of the nation, the aspect of integrity is very important, because it determines the future of all of us. Therefore, make social media a means of doing good and being polite, and increasing knowledge.

"In social interaction, try to apply 6 No, namely, no conflict, no hoaxes, no vent, no mention, no immorality, and no cynicism," said Gozali.

According to Gozali, the digital space also needs to be maintained by expressing its health well. Thus, there is no longer any gap to hate each other, as the key to elections that are safe without violence, both in the voting campaign, and the vote count later.
