JAKARTA - The Malaysian Police conducted an investigation into two social media accounts (medsos) that used to insult the Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar.

The investigation was carried out after the police received reports that two people found a Facebook account made in his name and used it. The account is suspected of committing hate speech against the King of Malaysia.

"He denies the ownership of the account and filed a police report for fear it could cause problems in the future," said Police Inspector General Tan Sri Razarudin Husain when contacted, Friday, April 18, quoted from Bernama.

Husain said that after the report related to this was received by the Samarahan City Police, Sarawak, his party had submitted it to the analysis of social media intelligence from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Currently, his party is waiting for the results of the MMC analysis to follow up on the report.

He said the case was investigated under Article 4 (1) of the Law on the Insultation of 1948 and Article 233 of the Law on Communication and Multimedia in 1998.

The two FB accounts display screenshots of a photo showing Malaysia's King with Chinese President Xi Jinping accompanied by a narrative of embarrassing the King of Malaysia.
