Accused of stealing Rp50 million of Padel racket, 4 Pedal Padel employees are suspects

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Metro Police has named four people as suspects in the alleged kidnapping, persecution, and confiscation of a Pedal Padel employee with the initials Abdul Latif (AL). The victim was allegedly kidnapped after being accused of taking a padel racket from his workplace.

Head of Public Relations of South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, said the case had been reported to the police and was immediately followed up by the Resmob Team.

"After the police report was received, the same day the Resmob team of the South Jakarta Metro Police moved quickly and then secured the perpetrator. Then a series of investigations were carried out until the case rose to the investigation stage and identified the person suspected of being the perpetrator," said Joko, Friday, June 26, 2026.

The four suspects who have been detained are initials ASB, RRK, AH, and DW. All four are colleagues of the victim.

Joko explained that this case began with a report from the victim's mother with the initials M. He reported that his son was picked up from home on Monday, June 22, 2026, then taken by a number of people and did not return for two days.

On the second day, the victim contacted his family. After seeing her son's condition, the mother was worried and reported to the South Jakarta Metro Police on Wednesday, June 24, 2021.

"From the report, we conducted a series of investigations until we managed to secure four people and establish them as suspects," said Joko.

In this case, the suspects are charged with the alleged crime of depriving someone of their independence, persecution, and jointly committing violence.

Based on the results of the preliminary investigation, the motive for the kidnapping was allegedly initiated by the accusation that the victim took items belonging to the place where he worked.

"According to information, the person concerned is suspected of taking goods from his workplace," said Joko.

It is known that Abdul Latif, who had only worked at the Padel place for about two months, was allegedly abducted, persecuted, and robbed after being accused of stealing a padel racket worth Rp50 million.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered injuries to several parts of the body, including a bruised face, blue eyes, broken teeth, and wounds on the legs.

In addition, the victim's mother admitted that she had offered a settlement by paying compensation of Rp1 million per month due to economic constraints. However, according to the family, the request was rejected and they were still asked to pay the full amount of Rp50 million.

The family also admitted that two motorbikes belonging to the victim's brother and one Xiaomi mobile phone were taken to the Pedal Padel office as collateral.

Accompanied by a lawyer, Abdul Latif's mother and sister then reported the alleged kidnapping, persecution, and appropriation crimes to the South Jakarta Metro Police.
