Tol Prosiwangi 24 Kilometer Soon Opened, Access to Tapal Kuda Getting Faster

JAKARTA - Access to the Tapal Kuda area in East Java will be easier and faster.

The reason is that the Ministry of Public Works (PU) has prepared the operation of the Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi Toll Road (Prosiwangi) Section 1 and Section 2 along 24 kilometers which have been completed.

The presence of the toll road is expected to facilitate community mobility as well as increase the efficiency of logistics distribution in the eastern part of Java Island.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said the construction of toll roads not only presents transportation infrastructure, but also becomes a lever for economic growth and equitable development in various regions.

"The construction of toll roads always has a strategic meaning, not only for physical infrastructure, but also for strengthening the foundation of the national economy," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Friday, August 7.

Overall, the Prosiwangi Toll Road has a length of 175.40 kilometers and was built by PT Jasamarga Probolinggo Banyuwangi as the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT).

The route is divided into seven sections, namely Section 1 Suko-Kraksaan along 12.8 kilometers, Section 2 Kraksaan-Paiton along 11.2 kilometers and Section 3 Paiton-Besuki along 25.6 kilometers.

Then, Section 4 Besuki-Situbondo along 42.3 kilometers, Section 5 Situbondo-Asembagus along 16.7 kilometers, Section 6 Asembagus-Bajulmati along 37.4 kilometers and Section 7 Bajulmati-Ketapang along 29.2 kilometers.

Currently, Section 1 and Section 2 which stretches from Suko to Paiton have completed all construction work and have obtained the Certificate of Operational License (SLO).

Meanwhile, Section 3 of Paiton-Besuki is still undergoing the Operational Test and Evaluation (ULFO) process.

With this progress, the construction of the Prosiwangi Toll Road continues to move towards connecting the toll road corridor in the eastern region of Java Island which will strengthen inter-regional connectivity.

In addition to reducing travel time, the Prosiwangi Toll is also expected to open wider access to industrial areas, logistics distribution centers, and various flagship tourist destinations in Banyuwangi Regency and its surroundings.

The government assessed that the existence of the toll road would increase the efficiency of logistics costs, strengthen the competitiveness of the region and support economic growth in the Tapal Kuda region.

Although the first two sections have already received SLO, the operation of the Prosiwangi Toll Road is still waiting for the completion of the results of the Function and Operation Test (ULFO) at the Gending Junction (SS).

The interchange is the main link between the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road (Paspro) and the Prosiwangi Toll Road, so it has an important role in ensuring the smoothness and safety of traffic when the section starts operating.

The ULFO inspection was carried out on July 16-17, 2026 to ensure that the interchange and all supporting facilities meet safety aspects, functional feasibility and operational readiness.

From the results of the examination, the ULFO Team still found a number of aspects that need to be improved by PT Trans Jawa Paspro Jalan Tol as a toll road business entity.

Following up on the results, PT Trans Jawa Paspro Toll Road stated that it would immediately complete all recommendations given by the ULF Team as a condition before conducting a follow-up evaluation towards operation.
