JAKARTA - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US military was directly monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire in Lebanon in coordination with the Lebanese and Israeli armed forces.

"CENTCOM (US Central Command) is now not only working with the Israeli military command, but also the Lebanese military command," Rubio said, quoted by Sputnik, Thursday, June 25.

"Every time there is an incident, we don't just accept reports from other parties. We can see the incident directly and assess and measure what actually happened," he added.

Rubio is currently on a visit to a number of countries in the Middle East to discuss various regional issues.

Israel and the Lebanese armed group, Hezbollah, have reportedly reached a ceasefire agreement that is scheduled to take effect on June 19, 2026.

However, on the same day, a Lebanese military field source told RIA Novosti that Israel was still continuing its air raids in southern Lebanon.

The two countries are currently undergoing a new round of negotiations mediated by the United States in Washington on June 23-25, 2026.
