JAKARTA - Iran's foreign minister confirmed Tehran is ready to return to the 2015 Nuclear Deal, as soon as all relevant parties keep their commitments, when meeting with top United Nations officials.

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, United States on weekends.

Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian said Tehran has always "consulted well" with the United Nations on the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA), the official name of the 2015 nuclear deal.

In addition, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian also noted that the exchange of messages with the United States was ongoing and the proposal made by Sultan Oman was still being discussed.

"If other parties (JCPOA) are ready, we will seriously return to the JCPOA, so that all parties can return to respecting their commitments based on the JCPOA within the framework of the Oman initiative," he explained as reported by the Tasnim News Agency on September 24.

On the same occasion, he also explained to the Secretary General of the United Nations about good progress in relations between Iran and neighboring countries in the Arab and Muslim regions.

Regarding the cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian said whenever the UN nuclear agency acted according to the technical framework, each process was on the right track.

"But when other parties prefer their political ideas over the professional procedures of the IAEA, it will cause the situation to get worse," he said.

He reiterated that nuclear weapons have no place in Iranian doctrine.

Referring to the crisis in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian underlined that Iran respects the territorial integrity of all countries, including Ukraine, and does not consider war a solution.
