Two Convicts Suspected Of Drug Party At IIA Kendari Prison

KENDARI - Two narcotics convicts at the Kendari Class IIA Prison, with the initials AP and AD, tested positive for consuming methamphetamine after undergoing urine tests conducted by the Kendari Police Narcotics Unit. The two inmates had to undergo a urine test after being proven to have attempted to smuggle methamphetamine into a prison during visiting hours. Narapidana with the initials AD was proven to have tried to smuggle 2.23 grams of crystal methamphetamine through her female colleague named Hernita Yuliandari. This prisoner ordered Hernita to hide methamphetamine in her genitals on Friday (30/7/2023). Meanwhile, the inmate with the initials AP ordered his wife to take methamphetamine in Puuwatu District, Kendari City and smuggled it. The 29.47 grams of crystal methamphetamine was hidden in a toddler who was also brought in when his wife visited the Kendari Class IIA Prison on Friday (4/8/2023). Kendari Police Narcotics Head stated that the two smuggling cases were being handled and have been upgraded in the investigation. AP and AD, along with two women who were suppliers of methamphetamine into Kendari Prison, have also been designated as suspects. "Two inmates with the initials AP and AD have been tested for urine, and the results are positive for consuming methamka," said AKP Hamka, Wednesday 9 August. The police are currently still investigating cases of smuggling narcotics of methamphetamine into Kendari prisons allegedly hidden in food boxes and ordered by corruption convicts with the initials YN. Meanwhile, the Head of Class IIA Kendari Prison, Tapius Antonio Barus, admitted that they were positive for consuming methamphetamine.

"I have not received a report regarding this," said Antonio Barus. However, he explained that in an effort to prevent the circulation of methamphetamine in Kendari Prison, guards managed to prevent efforts to smuggle methamphetamine three times in the last 9 days. The prison also conducted intensive raids in the prison block to anticipate attempts to smuggle prohibited and dangerous goods carried out by prisoners.
