PALEMBANG - A resident of Palembang City, South Sumatra, with the initials NO (30), reported a case of alleged fraud in the purchase of tickets for Coldplay music group concerts online via social media to the Integrated Service Center (SPKT) of the South Sumatra Police.

The reporting of the fraud case was carried out by victim NO, accompanied by his legal team on Saturday, May 20. To the police, they admitted that they were deceived by the Instagram social media account @tixconcern.idn with a loss of Rp. 12.5 million.

"It has been submitted along with evidence, and the report on the victim's case has been received by police officers," said a member of the victim's legal team, Febi Irianto, at the SPKT of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Palembang, as reported by ANTARA.

According to him, reports along with evidence have been received by the police with the number STTPL/260/V/2023/SPKT South Sumatra Regional Police.

The police suspect that the owner or organizer of the Instagram social media account @tixconcern.idn violates Article 28 (1) of the ITE Law.

The evidence that has been received by the police includes cash transfer receipts and screenshots of short messages between the victim's Instagram account and the reported account.

"Because it has been received, we hope that this report can be processed immediately and the perpetrators are arrested," he said.

Febi explained that the alleged fraud case began when victim NO, who works as an artist manager, was ordered by his boss to find a provider of Coldplay concert ticket sales services.

On the orders of the boss then, NO searched for service providers through various social media channels until finally finding @tixconcern.idn.

The reported account managed to convince the victim thanks to his testimony which stated that many people had ordered Coldplay concert tickets using their services.

"The account owner (the reported) also gave a Whatsapp number, then because it was believed and then our client bought two Coldplay CAT level 1 tickets which were indeed difficult to find. Paid by transfer to the reported account number, three times the payment at the price of one ticket worth Rp. 6.250 million is a total of Rp. 12.5 million," he said.

However, he said, after the payment was made entirely to the account number received, the reported Instagram account disappeared and changed its name to @tiketkuiniyahh and the Whatsapp number was also inactive.

"Investigate it, apart from the client, we hope that there will be no other victims of fraud committed by the reported party," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Pol Agung Marlianto, when confirmed via text message, said that the report of the case had been received by his personnel for immediate investigation.

"That's right, our personnel are currently investigating Sub-Directorate V Cyber," he said.
