Kuwait-Bahrain Military Targets Iran Missile-Drone Attack

JAKARTA - The military of Kuwait and Bahrain intercepted an attack from Iran. Kuwait previously said that the attack by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran (IRGC) targeted power plants and water installations.

"Iran continues to pursue a systematic hostile approach through criminal attacks targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain," the Bahrain Defense Force General Command said in a statement, as reported by CNN, Tuesday, July 21.

"The Bahrain Defense Force's air defense system today has faced, intercepted, and destroyed a number of dangerous Iranian air raids," the statement continued.

In its statement, the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said they were responding to hostile missile and drone threats, although it did not specify where the attacks originated.

Previously, the Kuwaiti government stated that Iran targeted a number of desalination facilities and power plants in Kuwait. This is the fourth consecutive day of attacks on vital infrastructure in the Arab country.

The fires that had occurred at several facilities as a result of the attack have now been successfully controlled, according to a statement from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait, reported by CNN, Tuesday, July 21. Several generators were said to have been shut down.

Kuwait has accused Iran of targeting its power plants and desalination facilities several times over the past week.

Desalination meets about 90% of the country's clean water needs.

In the neighboring country, Bahrain, sirens were sounded to warn residents of the Iranian attack and urge them to immediately head to the nearest safe place. It is not yet known exactly what damage was caused by the attack.
