Will Visit North Maluku, Jokowi Expected To Inaugurate Great Mosque of Shaffur Khairaat

MALUKU - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to make a working visit to Sofifi, the capital city of North Maluku province tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27.

Jokowi is scheduled to inaugurate the Great Mosque of Shaffur Khairaat while in Sofifi. The mosque was built during the National Qur'an Tilawatil Selection (STQN) in 2021.

"The President's planned visit to Sofifi, including the Sofifi Grand Mosque, is highly anticipated by the people in North Maluku Province, especially the Governor of North Maluku KH Abdul Gani Kasuba", said Head of the North Maluku Administration Bureau, Rahwan K Suamba, in a written statement, quoted from Antara.

Ridwan said the Governor of North Maluku, Abdul Gani Kasuba, also had high hopes that Jokowi could inaugurate it. Abdul Gani also visited the State Palace in Jakarta to convey an invitation directly to Jokowi to inaugurate the Great Mosque of Shaffur Khairaat.

Jokowi also carried out the laying of the first stone for the construction of the grand mosque in 2011.

The Head of the PUPR Service of North Maluku Province, Saifuddin Juba, said that the inauguration of the Shaful Khairaat Sofifi Grand Mosque was predicted to run smoothly. He said that the polemic with the construction contractors that had been busy in the local mass media, he said, had been resolved.

Saifuddin has even communicated with Rizal, a representative of the contractor PT Anugerah Lahan Baru who previously had a dispute over the construction.

Rizal claimed to fully support the inauguration of the Great Mosque of Shaffur Khairaat when Jokowi was in North Maluku. He said the grand mosque was a symbol of North Maluku.

"We certainly give full support to the local government because there are no problems that cannot be resolved and hopefully this visit will run smoothly", said Rizal.
