Minister Of Health, Budi Gunadi: Omicron Cases Will Increase More Than Delta Cases But Fall Fast Too

JAKARTA - Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said cases of COVID-19 of the Omicron variant will increase faster than the Delta variant in the rest of the world.

However, the Omicron variant is considered better because the decrease in cases will occur very quickly and will not require patients to be hospitalized.

"All over the world, Omicron cases will rise rapidly and high. In fact, more than Delta cases, but the good thing is that the decline is also fast and hospitalizations are low", Budi said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, January 24.

This is even proven by the spread of the Omicron variant in the country. Budi said, out of 1,600 positive people, only 20 needed hospital treatment and needed oxygen.

"This is still far, very low compared to the Delta case", said the former Deputy Minister of SOEs.

Furthermore, Budi asked the public not to panic about the Omicron variant. However, he still reminded the public to be careful and vigilant because the rate of transmission of this variant virus is indeed high.

In addition, he advised the public to continue to adhere to health protocols. In fact, shortly, the government will announce which locations are orderly in the implementation of this health protocol.
