Thomas Tuchel Will Start Searching For Players At Tottenham

JAKARTA - Thomas Tuchel's first player search mission as head coach of the England National Team was to watch Tottenham Hotspur's match against Newcastle United on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

This was confirmed by the English Football Federation (FA) on Friday, January 3, 2025.

The German manager officially took over as Gareth Southgate's permanent replacement on January 1, 2025.

Although his first game as a new coach will begin at the end of March 2025, he will not linger to observe some of his potential players in action.

He will be at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the early Premier League match when Spurs host Newcastle who are in his best form.

Young England players, such as Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento, and Lewis Hall were Tuchel's targets.

Tuchel, who has previously been Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain coach, has also added three more members to his coaching staff as he begins his first assignment as coach of the Three Lions.

There is assistant coach Anthony Barry, who confirmed in October 2024, lalu Hilario, Nicolas Mayer, and James Melbourne.

Hilario, as previously reported, joined Chelsea, where Tuchel worked with him as goalkeeping coach.

The Portuguese coach made 20 appearances in the Premier League as a Blues goalkeeper before becoming coach. However, he has ended his 18-year relationship with the club to work with the England National Team.

Melbourne, an analyst, also joined Chelsea. While Mayer is a performance coach who works with Tuchel at PSG and Bayern Munich.

Tuchel's first match as coach was the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia on March 21 and 24, 2024 at Wembley.

Apart from that, Lee Carsley, who took over the England senior team temporarily throughout the fall, has returned to his role with the U-21 team with his staff.
