JAKARTA Memories of today, four years ago, August 10, 2020, Hassan Diab resigned from the position of Prime Minister (PM) of Lebanon. The resignation was carried out because it followed the demands of the people who wanted him to resign due to the explosion in Beirut.

Later the Lebanese government said the explosion was triggered by an ammunition warehouse in the Lebanese Port area. The owner of the power said the explosion came from 2,700 tons of nitrate amonium stored in a building on the dock since it was confiscated from a cargo ship in 2014.

Amonium nitrate itself is a chemical compound. The compound is often used to increase nitrogen content in agricultural fertilizers. As a result, anium nitrate cannot be hit by fire. Once triggered, a devastating explosion effect appeared and that happened in Lebanon.

The incident then got the world's spotlight. The world then expressed deep sorrow for the people of Lebanon.
