Jeon Do Yeon's Determination To Present 2 Roles For The Movie Kill Bok Soon

JAKARTA - Jeon Do Yeon is back with her latest movie, Kill Bok Soon. This time, she challenges herself by playing Bok Soon, a housewife who also works as the best assassin.

The movie Kill Bok Soon premiered at the 2023 Berlinale Film Festival. As one of those attending the festival, Jeon Do Yeon was happy that this movie could be accepted at the festival.

“This is my first time going to the Berlinale. I think the movie Kill Bok Soon is not the type of film that can suit a film festival. I feel moved and can't believe I watched it on the big screen," said Jeon Do Yeon at the Kill Bok Soon press conference today, Tuesday, March 21.

Talking about her role, Jeon Do Yeon feels challenged to show action in her latest movie. She feels that so far she has not really had the opportunity to choose roles or action film genres.

“I want to try action movies but I don't have many opportunities. I said yes before seeing the script but I was nervous. Turns out there were a lot more action scenes than I imagined,” she said.

“There is a movie Birthday where Jeon Do Yeon and Seol Kyung Gu play. Then I was introduced to Jeon Do Yeon and we talked about this movie. She couldn't agree more. I think she starred in a lot of deep and dark movies," said Byun Sung Hyun as the director.

The director also felt that Jeon Do Yeon fits the duality of roles in the action genre, which she rarely shows.

“I think the action genre is rarely played by her and I tried to discuss her ideas with her. There is a side of Jeon Do Yeon as a mother and Jeon Do Yeon as a worker," he said again.

Enthusiastic and challenged at the same time, Jeon Do Yeon is determined to do a good job for Kill Bok Soon.

“I feel scared and nervous but I have to live with it no matter what. I rehearsed a lot of action scenes because I was dealing with fellow actors, not stunts. I was worried about getting too emotional and overdoing the action scenes," she said.

“They used left and right tactics for my face. The toughest challenge is challenging physical training," said Jeon Do Yeon.

Kill Bok Soon tells the story of the two worlds lived by Boksoon, played by Jeon Do Yeon. Inside the house, she is a good mother to her child, Yeong Ji (Lee Yeon).

However, Boksoon was a different person outside the home. She is a legendary assassin under an elite assassin agency called MK Ent. She is able to use various weapons such as axes, guns, and ropes to fight her enemies.

The movie Kill Bok Soon will be released globally via Netflix on March 31.
