Produce 101 Contestant, Lee Ji Han, Dies In Itaewon Tragedy

JAKARTA - Actor and former Produce 101 season 2 contestant, Lee Ji Han was revealed as one of the victims of the Itaewon tragedy. This news was announced by the actor's agency on Sunday, October 30.

"It is true that Lee Ji Han passed away due to the incident in Itaewon on October 29," said the agency 935 Entertainment.

"We hope that the news is not true and we are shocked that we heard the news. (Lee Ji Han's family) is grieving at this time so we are very careful," the agency continued.

This news first circulated when several Produce 101 contestants wrote condolences. Park Hee Seok, Kim Do Hyun, Choi Jin Hyung shared the sad news via Instagram.

“Jihan has left this world and gone to a better place. We hope you say goodbye to the last step," wrote several Produce 101 contestants.

Lee Ji Han became a contestant on Produce 101 season two in 2017. After the show ended, Ji Han became an actor in the web drama Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day in 2019.

Lee Ji Han passed away at the age of 24. He will be buried on Tuesday, November 1 at a hospital in the Myongji area.

On Saturday, October 29, 151 people died at a Halloween celebration event in Itaewon, Seoul. More than 1000 people are still missing in the tragedy.
