Elizabeth Olsen Acts As Candy In The Phenomenal Love And Death Series

JAKARTA - Elizabeth Olsen is back with her new series, Love and Death. She plays Candy Montgomery, a figure who shocked the public in 1980 because of her murder case.

The first teaser features Olsen transforming into a friendly yet mysterious Candy. She creates narratives as a good wife by preparing food and tidying up the house every day but she never gets anything in return.

Until one day, Candy met her neighbor, Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons), and his wife, Betty. They compactly attend Sunday services and enjoy life in a small town in Texas.

Candy is also active as a choir member with her friends. But that relationship changed when Candy and Allan decided to have an illicit relationship.

In the original incident, Candy Montgomery had a relationship with Allan Gore after befriending Betty Gore. On June 13, 1980, Betty was found dead while Allan was out of town.

Betty was identified as having been hit 41 times with an axe. Candy is accused of murdering Betty but admits to self-defence after Betty cheated on her husband. At that time Candy underwent a polygraph test and was released.

In addition to Olsen and Plemons, Love and Death stars Allan Gore, Lily Rabe, Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey, Keir Gilchrist, and Elizabeth Marvel.

This series was created by David E. Kelley, who is known for a number of adult series such as Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Lincoln Lawyer.

This is the second adaptation of the Candy case. In 2022, streaming service Hulu is also making Jessica Biel's Candy series.

The Love and Death series will premiere on May 25 on HBO.
