JAKARTA - The game Call of Duty has recently been very popular with young people, but cheating is often found in this game. Activision as the game's publisher finally took action against the fraud.
The Ricochet anti-cheat system has just been introduced in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard. The system will use a combination of kernel-level PC drivers, namely machine learning algorithms to identify player behavior.
Activision has also bought up a team of professionals who will work hard to investigate players who cheat. The PC kernel-level driver has been developed internally and will be rolling out for the first time for Call of Duty: Warzone along with the upcoming Pacific map update.
Quoting Engadget, Thursday, October 14, nowadays, games for PC are increasingly using kernel-level drivers to detect cheats, but because they run at such a high level on Windows, there are always privacy concerns around such an approach.
Keep in mind, the Ricochet anti-cheat system in Call of Duty will not always be active. This means that the kernel-level driver only operates when the player opens Call of Duty: Warzone, and will not activate when the player leaves the game. A team of professionals will monitor the processes that interact with Warzone to see if any players are trying to inject code or manipulate the game.

Activision has banned over 500.000 cheater accounts since the game's launch, though it's not uncommon for matches to be filled with aimbots and wallhacks to this day. Aimbots automatically lock on the opponent, making it easy to hit a shot in the head. Wallhacks expose everyone on the map, so cheaters get a huge advantage by knowing where their opponents are at all times.
In response to this, the players forced the game developer Raven Software to address the cheating. Call of Duty: Warzone isn't the only PC game that has cheaters. Cheating in some of the world's top PC games has only gotten worse over the past year.
The game industry has struggled to combat cheaters even with tools like Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye which also use kernel-level drivers. Like the game Valorant, which has had some success with its own kernel-level drivers, but cheaters are a bit tricky to get rid of, as Wallhacks can still operate in the game undetected.
