JAKARTA - In POJK Number 22 of 2023 concerning consumer and community protection in the financial services sector, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) emphasized that crypto asset marketing activities cannot be carried out arbitrarily.
In this case, OJK stated that product marketing activities or promotion of crypto assets must be carried out through the official platform of crypto asset trading companies, not through influencers, as stated in Article 35 paragraph 2.
In terms of product and/or service marketing, it can only be done by individuals registered with the Financial Services Authority, individuals in question are required to inform licensed and supervised statements by the Financial Services Authority on product and/or service offers and promotions.
In response to this, CMO Tokocrypto Wan Iqbal saw the steps taken by the OJK solely to protect investors from potential risks caused by irresponsible promotions or misinformation.
But on the other hand, Iqbal also emphasized that the community is the center of the crypto industry. Within this community, members share, learn, and educate each other to make crypto adoption and industry better.
Including influencers, according to him, influencers also have an important role in the crypto ecosystem, especially in terms of education and dissemination of information. Because according to him, influencers have a significant influence on social media.

Iqbal admitted that this policy certainly had an impact, both in the short and long term. Therefore, Tokocrypto, a Indonesian Crypto Asset Trader (Aspakrindo-ABI), has conveyed their aspirations to the OJK.
"We submitted an audience to the OJK regarding POJK No. 22 of 2023, along with OJK's statement through the mass media about 'Crypto influencers must have responsibility'," said Iqbal.
According to him, there needs to be guidelines and provisions for any collaboration with influencers, to protect investors and ensure that the information provided is accurate and trustworthy.
