JAKARTA - A scientist has revealed the concept of a future prison that is claimed to accelerate the release of prisoners from years or decades to just a few minutes.

This concept called "Cogniify" is designed to implant synthetic memories of a person's crime into his brain, but by showing their victim's perspective.

This system can display VR-like devices featuring AI-generated recordings of such abuses, combined with brain implants that trigger emotional conditions such as regret or guilt - feelings that some individuals may not be able to produce.

The concept developed by Hashem Al-Ghaili will ensure the long-term effects of the therapy session by making the memory permanent.

The synthetic memory implanted by Cognify will show the victim's perspective from the crimes committed by inmates. This therapy will last for a few minutes, but will feel like years for the perpetrators.

"In the criminal mind, time will pass slower than in real life, making them experience for years," said a narrative video explaining this concept.

Depending on the seriousness of the crime and the punishment of the subject, the memory can be adjusted to the rehabilitation needs of each subject.

Prisoners will undergo high-resolution brain scans that create detailed maps of their neural pathways, enabling Cogniify devices to target certain brain areas responsible for memory, reasoning, and logical thinking.

This technology not only displays visual effects but can also stimulate physical response by letting perpetrators feel the pain and suffering experienced by their victims. Some memories are designed to trigger long-term consequences and trauma, such as the sadness of the victim's family or physical and emotional trauma experienced by the victim.

Pods will be open to feature men standing inside each, wearing Cogniify devices on top of their heads with a look in front of their eyes and headphones in their ears - completely submerged in the memory generated by AI.

The artificial memory implanted by Cognify will be seamlessly embedded into the existing brain's neural tissue, prevent cognitive dissonance and ensure the subject experiences memory as if it was real, according to the clip.

While inmates experience clear memories of their crimes, the central computer collects data to understand what makes people commit the offense. The video also notes that Cognify will have encrypted storage for sensitive inmate information and rehabilitation data.

Cogniify's concept could revolutionize the criminal justice system by significantly reducing the need for long-term detention and related costs, according to the video of the concept.

Traditional prisons require a large budget for the construction, maintenance, labor, and care of prisoners, including food, health care, and rehabilitation programs. By replacing a long prison sentence with short and intensive rehabilitation through artificial memory planting, the cost of maintaining prison facilities and the support of prisoners can be greatly reduced.
