JAKARTA - In accordance withGoogle's determination to reduce carbon emissions, Google Maps launched a new feature that is more environmentally friendly. This feature will provide a lower carbon travel alternative. When users want to search for a driving route somewhere, Maps will display alternative routes using public vehicles or even walking. However, this alternative only appears on the screen if the advice provided is practical. "We want the public to get the right information to make a more environmentally friendly choice," Google said. "With updates on features in Maps and Tracing, you can find public transportation and comfortable walking routes." This new feature will be launched in the coming weeks and is only available in fifteen cities, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Montreal, Paris, Rome, and much more. This feature will be expanded in the future.

In addition to launching alternative, more environmentally friendly alternative routes, Google is also preparing a feature that can feature AI-based summarys as Maps users search for charging locations for electric-powered cars. Sometimes, charging locations can be quite complicated and users will find it difficult to find charging areas. To address this issue, Maps will display specific charging locations based on the information from user reviews. "This information is possible thanks to millions of reviews posted daily on Maps, which help provide accurate and up-to-date information about places like charging stations," Google explained. AI-based summary features to search for this charging site will be launched in the coming months. This update will launch globally, starting with electric cars using Google.
